"Feel-good" doesn't mean empty
The best feel-good films earn their warmth. Paddington 2 doesn't avoid the prison setting, it just decides kindness wins. About Time uses time travel to argue that ordinary days are the point. Chef is about losing your career and finding something better in a food truck. None of these films are pretending the world is easy. They're just choosing, for two hours, to look at the part that's worth it.
